This Straits Times report on June 25 2011 say that China has now become the world number 1 market for art auctions. This is due to a mixed of rising wealth and patriotism among the Chinese. Many wealthy Chinese are now buying back antique Chinese art that has left the country in the past either due to war or theft or normal buying and selling.
