Imperial Yellow Chinese Porcelain Ink Box With Engraved Phoenix and Poeny Flowers

The embossed reigned mark is of the Qian Long era( Qing Dynasty ). However the estimated vintage of this ink box is about mid to late 2oth century.

Chinese Porcelain Ink Box In Imperial Yellow Glaze Decorated With Embossed Peony Flowers And A Pheonix.

A nice bright yellow glazed Chinese porcelain ink box. The glazed is thinly applied. There are numerous rust spots on the yellow glaze, but surprisinly very few on the inside of the box which has a whitish glaze. These rust spots could have been intentionally created to simulate a very old porcelain piece. What is more likely though is that these are ash contamination from a wood fire kiln probably from an inexperience potter.
